Thrust bearing installation precautions

For thrust ball bearings, the inner ring is always installed with interference fit. Unlike cylindrical bore bearings, the interference degree of thrust ball bearings is not determined by the selected shaft fit tolerance, but by the bearing's advancing distance on the cone journal, sleeve, or withdrawal sleeve. The radial internal clearance of the bearing decreases as the bearing advances on the cone journal.

By measuring the reduction value, the degree of interference and the tightness of the fit can be determined. When installing self-aligning ball bearings, ring roller bearings, spherical roller bearings and high-precision cylindrical roller bearings with tapered holes, the radial internal clearance reduction value or the axial advance distance on the tapered base should be determined as the scale to measure the interference amount. See the relevant product section for clearance reduction values and guidance values for axial propulsion distance.

Small bearings can be pushed into the conical base using nuts. In the case of bushings, sleeve nuts are used. The small ejector sleeve can be pushed into the bearing hole with a nut. Use a hook wrench or a pneumatic wrench to tighten the nut. Before starting installation, a little oil should be added to the surface of the journal and sleeve. The installation force required for large bearings is significantly increased and hydraulic nuts and/or oiling methods should be used.

Both of the above methods can significantly simplify the installation process. The oiling equipment required to operate the hydraulic nuts and use the oiling method is available. For more information about these products, see the relevant section in the catalogue, "Maintenance and Lubrication Products".

When the hydraulic nut is used to install the bearing, it must be positioned on the threaded part of the journal or the thread of the sleeve so that the ring piston is tight against the inner ring of the bearing, the nut on the shaft or the stop ring mounted on the shaft end. Oil is pressed into the hydraulic nut through the pump to move the piston up the shaft with the required force for safe and precise installation. Using hydraulic nuts, install the spherical roller bearing to

Using the oil injection method, the oil is injected between the bearing and the journal under high pressure to form an oil film. This oil film separates the mating surfaces and significantly reduces the friction between the mating surfaces. This method is generally used when mounting bearings directly onto a tapered journal, but is also used to mount bearings on tight sets and ejector sets specially prepared for the oiling method. The oil pump or oiler generates the necessary pressure to inject oil between the mating surfaces through grooves and oil distribution channels in the shaft or sleeve. When designing the bearing layout, it is necessary to consider the arrangement of the necessary grooves and channels on the shaft. The spherical roller bearing is installed on the release sleeve with oil groove, and the release sleeve is pressed into the bearing hole by injecting the oil into the mating surface and tightening the screws in turn
